Step 5: The hammer

Time for some direct action. After checking that the toast was still in position, I had a quick go at the video with a hammer. It felt pretty damn good to be bashing the hell out of this machine that had annoyed me for so many years with a hammer, to be honest.

Then the kids asked if they could have a go it with their skateboards. I said yes, but warned them to make sure they didn't damage the skateboards. They stood around it, like a pack of wolves in for the kill. Suddenly I could see that maybe "Lord Of The Flies" wasn't all that far-fetched after all.

Josh had a quick go at it with the crowbar after that, as well as pulling the toast out for a quick inspection, and stuffing it back in again.

Conclusion: Hammers, crowbars and skateboards can dent metal quite considerably if you put your back into it.
