- Melissa: One among thousands - The number
of times I've had the Good Times virus warning and its clones arrive in my e-mail - not to
mention legends of stolen kidneys, bloody Craig Shergold and the cards - is alarmingly
- Viva the Revolution! I think... - I
get the feeling that this whole computer revolution thing has gone a bit too far. What
proved this to me above all others things was this: an glossy advertisement for Intel
processors. On the back of "Family Circle" magazine.
- Save your screen - Somewhere in one of the
back rooms at Microsoft, there's probably a little group that writes screen savers. Half a
dozen hippie programmers with Visual Arts degrees, expertise in OpenGL programming and a
mandate from Microsoft management to make Windows look hip.
- Techheads versus Users - The Users
might be tempted to call Techheads geeks and nerds, but they know that it's those very
geeks and nerds that they will have to scream to for help if they run into trouble.
- Beware the beta - The result was that once I
had installed the beta, the computer wouldn't boot any more. This can be a slightly minor
interruption to its normal operation...
